Staff Organisation – The Advisors! 🤓
Note: "Staff Organisation" rarely exists alone. It is usually part of "Line and Staff". But let's understand the concept of "Staff".
Line = Doers (Commanders). Staff = Thinkers (Advisors).
Imagine a King (Line). He has a Minister/Rajguru (Staff).
- The Minister gives advice: "King, don't attack today, stars are bad."
- The King decides: "I will attack anyway."
- Key Point: Staff has NO Authority to command. They can only recommend.
Types of Staff 👥
1. Personal Staff 🎩
- Assistants to the Boss.
- Example: Personal Secretary (PA).
- Job: "Sir, you have a meeting at 4 PM." (Makes the boss's life easier).
2. Specialized Staff 🔬
- Experts in a specific field.
- Example: Legal Advisor, HR Manager, R&D Scientist.
- Job: "Sir, legally we cannot fire this employee." (Provides technical expertise).
3. General Staff 📋
- Helpers in administration.
- Example: Deputy Manager.
Why do we need Staff? 🤔
Because the Line Manager (General Manager) cannot know EVERYTHING!
- He knows production.
- Does he know the latest Tax Law? No. -> Need Tax Expert (Staff).
- Does he know the latest AI tech? No. -> Need IT Expert (Staff).
Staff fills the "Knowledge Gap".
