TPP Criticisms & Controversies 😡

Before USA left, there were massive protests against TPP. Why?

1. ISDS (Investor-State Dispute Settlement) ⚖️

• The Fear: It allowed foreign companies to sue Governments in secret courts.
• Example: If India bans a harmful pesticide, the US company making it could sue India for "Loss of Profit".
• Critics: "It puts Corporate Profits above National Laws."

2. Job Losses 👷‍♂️

• The Fear: Companies would move factories to Vietnam (cheap labor).
• Result: American workers lose jobs. (This is why Trump quit).

3. Medicine Prices 💊

• The Fear: TPP had strong Patent rules. It would delay cheap Generic Medicines.
• Result: Poor people wouldn't afford drugs.

4. Secrecy 🤫

• The deal was negotiated in secret. Even MPs didn't see the text until it was finalized.
