Why was this Act needed?
Before 1986, if a shopkeeper sold you a fake product, you had to file a civil suit like any other contract dispute. This meant:
- Hiring expensive lawyers
- Waiting 5-10 years
- Complex procedures The Consumer Act simplified this with special courts just for consumer issues!
