Save Tax with HRA

House Rent Allowance (HRA) is a major tax-saving component for salaried employees. Under Section 10(13A) of the Income Tax Act, a portion of your HRA can be claimed as tax-exempt.

How is HRA Exemption Calculated?

The exemption is the lowest of the following three:

  1. Actual HRA received.
  2. 50% of Basic Salary (for Metros) or 40% (for Non-Metros).
  3. Rent paid minus 10% of Basic Salary.

Use this tool to find out exactly how much tax you can save this year.
